This luxury apartment renovation in Eixample Dreta, Barcelona transformed a 140 m² property in a 1910s building near Carrer de Mallorca into a high-end residence with the atmosphere of a boutique hotel. The apartment is on the fifth floor of a lift-access building. As a corner unit with a dual aspect, it receives exceptional natural light in the morning and again in the afternoon.

Layout Reconfiguration

The original floor plan was partially reworked to improve flow and spatial quality. First, we reconfigured both bathrooms. Then we opened the kitchen to the living area, creating a single generous space. Finally, we enclosed the original gallery and integrated it into the main living room. As a result, the apartment now feels more open, more cohesive, and architecturally resolved.

Materials and Finishes

Material quality defines this renovation above all else. We laid aged Burgundy oak herringbone parquet throughout the living areas and bedrooms. In both bathrooms, large-format book-matched Calacatta marble covers walls and floors continuously, producing a surface that is both rich and precise.

The kitchen is bespoke. A lacquered sage green island pairs with integrated natural oak upper cabinets and a Calacatta marble worktop. Antique brass tapware and hardware appear consistently throughout the apartment. Walls are finished in deep warm white Venetian plaster with a subtle sheen. A custom steel and glass internal partition separates the living and dining areas without blocking light.

Restored Period Details

One of the most important decisions in this luxury apartment renovation in Eixample Dreta was to restore rather than remove. Original plaster ceiling rosettes and cornices were carefully restored, bringing back the decorative character that defines the finest properties in this neighbourhood. The result is a home that feels genuinely old and genuinely new at the same time.
