This luxury apartment renovation in Sarrià, Barcelona transformed a 185 m² property on the seventh floor of a 1970s building near Carrer de Montevideo. The apartment has lift access, east and south orientation, and panoramic views across Barcelona toward the sea. The renovation was built around three principles: spatial clarity, material discipline, and the primacy of light.

Complete Layout Reconfiguration

The original floor plan was entirely reworked. First, we removed the wall between the kitchen and the living room to create a single open-plan space of approximately 90 m². This is now the gravitational centre of the apartment. In addition, one bedroom was converted into a dedicated study, and the guest bathroom was repositioned to improve circulation. As a result, the home feels both generous and precisely organised.

Materials and Finishes

Large-format honed Pietra Serena stone tiles in a 120 × 120 cm format run continuously across the living areas. Their dark warm grey tone and fine mineral grain give the apartment a grounded, refined atmosphere. Throughout the home, walls are finished in smooth tadelakt plaster in a warm mid grey, adding depth and a soft mineral quality that complements the darker floor tones.

The kitchen is integrated into the open-plan space as a compositional element. Flat-panel deep anthracite lacquer cabinetry combines with a thick honed absolute black granite worktop. The result is sleek and highly precise, consistent with the material language across the rest of the apartment.

In the bathrooms, large-format warm charcoal stone-look porcelain is paired with freestanding elements. These spaces feel sculptural and quietly luxurious.

Custom Design Elements

Steel bookshelves and partitions in a satin dark bronze finish introduce structure and rhythm across the interior. White 2.75-metre ceilings feature precise linear LED lighting that reinforces the apartment’s clean geometry. Furniture in dark leather, smoked oak, and wool completes the atmosphere with texture and weight.

Result

This apartment renovation in Sarrià is defined by discipline, proportion, and permanence. The panoramic views are treated as the primary artwork. Every surface and transition has been resolved in service of that clarity. The final result is a calm and powerful home designed for someone with a strong visual culture and a preference for precision over excess.
